Dear All,
We are leaving behind a particularly bleak year 2020 to enter a year 2021 full of promises, especially for the 101 Genomes Foundation (F101G) and the fight against Marfan syndrome since:
- The Co-Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the F101G, Professor Bart Loeys, was recently honoured with the Belgian "Nobel Prize".the Prix Francqui;
- The FWO is going to fund UZGent, Professor Paul Coucke and the UZA, Professor Bart Loeys, in the amount of 700,000 euros to lead the search for protective genes for Marfan Syndrome namely for GEMS research initiated by the F101G;
- A generous donor doubles the donations received by the F101G to 25,000 euros per year for GEMS for three years;
- The MIC provides us with three computer specialists for the development of our computer tools and a fantastic family provides us with offices where we can, in particular, accommodate these computer specialists;
- Last but not least, Innoviris and the Brussels Region are releasing more than one million euros to finance the work of Professors Tom Lenaerts (Machine Learning Group - ULB) and Guillaume Smits (Interuniversity Institute of Bioinformatics in Brussels - ib²). for the development of tools based on artificial intelligence for diagnostic assistance and for a better understanding of Marfan syndrome!
In addition to these sums, and in particular thanks to the campaign impatient! brilliantly led by Alisa Herrero to date, we have collected more than 610,000 euros in donations!
We would not have achieved this result without the support of people like you, who believed in us and gave us the courage and energy to lead this fight. We are deeply grateful to you.
If you would like to continue supporting us in 2021, please do not hesitate, do it now!
Looking forward to seeing you again, as soon as possible.
Ludivine & Romain
