700,000 euros to finance the Ghent & Antwerp teams working on GEMS!

On December 16, 2020, Professors Bart Loeys and Paul Coucke have both received more than 700,000 euros in funding. from Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek Fund (FWO) to work in the laboratory on the F101G flagship project: the GEMS project! It's fantastic!

Professor Bart Loeys, (co-winner the same day of the Prix Francqui 2020) is a paediatric cardio-geniologist from the University of Antwerp and Co-Chair of the Fondation 101 Génomes.

Professor Paul Coucke is responsible for the laboratory of the Centre for Medical Genetics of the UZ Gent and member of the Fondation 101 Génomes since 2018.

The two of them receive more than 700,000 euros to work together in their laboratories on the project. « Genoomwijde epistasis studie voor cardiovasculaire ernst in Marfan syndroom » namely the GEMS project.
